Step-by-step mixed fresh flower arrangement.

July 16th, 2009

1. Pick out the container or accessories that you like to work with.

Here is Square vase 5″x5″ and seashell

2. Put seashell, add cool water and flower food in the vase and prepare to make the arrangement.

3. Build a foundation with variety of green like lemon leaf, green hypericum, viburnum and hydrangea and fill in some nice tulips.   Also remember to remove any leaves that will sit below the vase’s water line.

Tip: The hydrangea have a woody stem, Smash the bottom of the stem with a hammer. Place the hydrangea in a short vase which will help a longer life span. The longer the stem the more water it will need and shorter life span it will have.

4. Add  white orchid, white, pink and yellow roses

5. Add: pink orchid, roses and tulips then look from every angle to make sure the arrangement is nice and full.

Enjoy your colorful arrangement!

Follow these simple tips to help your arrangement last longer:

1. check water, be sure vase is 3/4 full with water.

2. Every other day, cut 1/2 from flower stems at 45 degree angle and change water.

3. Add flower food, if you do not have the flower food add 1 tsp of sugar or 1 aspirin or a few drops of bleach.

Keep flowers away from direct sunlight and excessive heat

petal pusher!

Bud: Nice stems.

Lilly: Why, thank you.

Bud: Really, sweet thing, you’re a cut above. Who’s your stylist?

Lilly: Oh, I went to finishing school at PK Art and Floral Design in Nob Hill. The girls and I enrolled in a private flower-arranging class. It’s only $85, which includes blossoms, a vase, and tools.

Bud: Sweet. Can I roll solo?

Lilly: You need seven to ten pals. Best part is students vote on who makes the best arrangement and the winner scores an $85 gift card. The shop tailors the class to fit your needs — weddings, baby showers — and even serves wine with light bites.

Bud: Baby, why do you need all that? This bud’s for you.

Lilly: You’re quite a pistil.

Bud: Yeah, well, you should see my stamen.
